A SUMMER DAY IN THE CITY

A SUMMER DAY IN THE CITY

A GAUHAR HELSINKI summer vacation should be all about ease, slow mornings and never ending days with near and dear ones.

Summer is the season when our hometown finally comes alive! So, put your favourite dress on, slip into your most comfortable sandals, and follow our curated itinerary for a summer day spent discovering our team's absolute favorite corners of Helsinki.

Cool Start

Begin your slow morning in the vibrant heart of Kallio. You can find cute breakfast cafes around the floral oasis of Karhupuisto. Waybakery, is for sure one of them. However, Flät no 14 is our go-to for a cozy, unhurried brunch. They offer tasty and visually stunning food that relies on vibrant colors, varied textures, and purposeful plating to transform a summer brunch into a true "feast for the eyes".

Coastal Stroll

After brunch, it is time to move toward the water. Our southern coastline of Helsinki treats you with a panoramic view! This seaside stretch is bursting with incredible late lunch and dinner options where you simply cannot go wrong.

Our absolute favorite for a sunny summer day is Birgitta. Sitting outside on their open terrace with a cold drink and a fresh salad while watching the sailboats glide by is pure magic. If the Finnish summer weather decides not to play along, Löyly has you covered. The striking architectural design offers cozy indoor fires, breathtaking views, and excellent food to keep you warm and happy even on a moodier day.

Archipelago Bliss

If you want to lean fully into the island lifestyle, make your way to the Market Square (Kauppatori) and catch the short, ten-minute ferry to Lonna. This historic island offers a wonderful, authentic archipelago vibe. To make a full day of it, book a slot at Lonna’s cozy public seaside sauna. After a relaxing wood-fired steam and a refreshing dip in the  sea, sit down at their restaurant for a seasonal, locally sourced fancy dinner. These are the moments we live for in November!

City Sunsets

A sunset by the sea is always stunning, however there is no better place to finish off a perfect summerday in Helsinki than Brera’s charming, traditional lippakioski (lip-roofed kiosk) on Tehtaankatu. Grab a table -order a glass of wine and some late night snacks. Watch the neighborhood locals mingle as the soft evening light gently falls over the city.

Hope you enjoy our small summer in the city -guide.
